The movie "Glory" was overall a pretty accurate movie. However, there were a few parts that surprised me during the movie. When the Confederacy announced that black soldiers would be shot on sight or placed in slavery I expected at least some black soldiers to leave. In the movie not even one left. I think that was a little bit over-dramatic. However I think the movie showed how the African-Americans were treated and how the training for them was. This movie was overall very realistic and portrayed life in the Civil War for African-Americans very well.
The movie definitely portrayed life during the Civil War for the African Americans. They were brave and endured through all the pain and racism that were given to them. I think that the movie was just perfect according to all the scenes. They seemed pretty realistic and showed every aspect of life during the Civil War. It just showed the main points.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it was a little surprising when none of the black soldiers left the regiment. However, they are fighting for their freedom and against slavery. If they don't do anything and the Union ends up losing the war, everything would be the same in the South. Slaves would still do the same backbreaking work and labor that the North was trying to fight against, and the whole war would be for nothing. If none of them would make sacrifices for the good of everyone else, then they could not win the war and end slavery.
ReplyDeleteThe movie did portray the lives of African-American well. And, I also agree that it was to over dramatic when all the soldiers stayed. but the part where Trip was whipped by a drill Sgt. was very unrealistic because he was part of his own Regiment.
